Professionally restored by Cedar Leaf Bindery in Brooklyn, NY. The text blocks were resewn, spines reinforced, and new flyleaves added. Several missing pages were replaced with facsimiles [details to come].
Original gilt and embossed boards were retained and mounted onto new cloth. All original illustration plates are present.
This set is now structurally sound, clean, and ready for reading or display — a powerful piece of American literary and cultural history brought back to life.
